SSG is working with the City of Rapid City, South Dakota, to develop a Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) and Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) for the Rapid City Metropolitan Statistical Area, including Pennington, Lawrence, and Meade counties.
The region is experiencing heavier storms, increased wildfire risk, and rising temperatures due to climate change. The region’s low-income communities—which account for over 25% of the population—are likely to be most affected by these climate hazards. As the lead consultant on the project, SSG has partnered with Vireo, a planning and architecture firm based in the Midwest, to engage these communities with the aim of creating equitable climate actions.
The project is funded by a $1-million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency. Learn more about our Climate Pollution Reduction Grants services and projects.
