“West Hants’ MCCAP is an excellent example of proactive planning”

SSG helped lead the Municipal Climate Change Action Plan for West Hants County, Nova Scotia. A mix of climatologists, geoscientists and consultants worked on the comprehensive piece of analysis to create a plan to show all the potential impacts from climate change on the community. It was found that to adapt to climate change, the municipality needs to be an adaptive organisation, to adopt a change-oriented culture of governance and management. In fact, the process of analyzing climate change impacts to municipal operations and services was a stepping-stone toward new views of contemporary local governance. 47 actions were created and delegated across the municipality and staff.
