City of Kingston Community Energy Plan

SSG has built an energy model of Kingston that has considerations for each energy and emissions sector, and includes a transportation model to assess transportation energy use and emissions production. The model incorporates energy use costs, energy generation costs, and employment impacts. Scenarios reflect current and alternative scenarios for Kingston in order to explore different energy futures and the implications of those scenarios for energy mix, energy costs, employment, and business opportunities. The scenarios are informed by current land-use plans, the existing climate action plan, multi-stakeholder community engagement, and assessment of energy generation opportunities.

Public and stakeholder engagement is informing the process and providing inputs to the scenarios. The scenario that delivers the most positive benefits will be translated into specific targets, an actions and implementation plan outlining tasks, costing, timeline, partnership and responsibilities, and a monitoring strategy.
