“The theme and process were positive, catchy and easy to remember: Future Summerland: where do we grow from here?”

In addition to creative engagement, an innovative quantitative modelling analysis allowed us to objectively assess growth potential in various areas of town. Recognizing that development decisions aren’t made on facts alone, we incorporated a values weighting option to the modelling information, allowing public users to value certain criteria over others (eg: reducing driving is more important than saving on energy costs). This allowed users to see how different priorities affected which were the best areas of town to focus growth.

We presented technical analysis and a record of public opinion on development matters in Summerland to Council for thoroughly informed consideration in making their decisions on where and how to develop in Summerland in the future.
