City of Edmonton Land Use Analysis & City Plan
Client The City of Edmonton
Location Edmonton, Calgary, Canada
Schedule January 2019 – December 2019
SSG was tasked with modelling city planning scenarios to estimate and forecast the energy and environmental costs of Edmonton’s City Plan with a target of doubling Edmonton’s population to two million people.
CityInSight was used in conjunction with Metronamica, the Regional Travel Model and the Metro Region Spatial Economic Model to explore land-use, population, employment and policy scenarios. Specifically, calculations were done to estimate greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption forecasts and associated costs for future City Plan concepts. The evaluation scenarios were compared to one another as well as the current baseline year.
