SSG was awarded the Environmental Initiative of the Year Award by Coâoperatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) for our work introducing carbon budgeting to municipalities in Canada.
SSG collaborated with Lakewood, Ohio and Ames, Iowa to identify the role of specific federal funds through detailed financial modeling. They are, to our knowledge, the first municipalities to account for federal funding from the Infrastructure Bill and Inflation Reduction Act in their climate action plansâsetting them up to save hundreds of millions of dollars by taking climate action.
Land-use bylaws are one of the easiest mechanisms for municipalities to achieve low-carbon outcomes.
In this webinar, experts from C40 Cities and climate planning consultancy SSG provide guidance on applying for the grants. They also explain how to design an effective climate action plan to make you competitive for a slice of the $4.6-billion set aside for implementing climate actions through the CPRG program and the many other federal programs funded by the Inflation Reduction Act.Â
SSG has published a Climate Action Planning Quickstart Guide to demystify the CPRG and provide guidance to US communities on how to develop a climate action plan.

State and municipal governments across the US are developing work plans and budgets to secure a slice of the $250 million allocated by the Inflation Reduction Act for climate action planning. We share five best practices from our time developing climate action plans with over 100 communities.
In this first installment of our âLiving Solutionsâ series, which focuses on how SSGers are taking climate action in their personal lives, we focus on our Senior Consultant Maurya Braunâs home retrofit journey.
Municipalities across Canada are excited about leading creative projects to tackle the climate crisis. At the FCM Sustainable Communities Conference earlier this month, SSG had a chance to hear from them and discuss new developments in the climate action space.
